A wonderful ride up past one of the most spectacular sights in Andalucia with the split cliff of El Chorro , on to the reservoirs of the Ardales National park & finally a short steep climb through the whitewashed town of Ardales into the rugged hills beyond. Ardales National park is known as the Spanish Lake District set high up in the mountains. Malaga’s “Lake District” is in fact three reservoirs formed by dams built across the extraordinary Guadalhorce river gorge, which is called the Garganta del Chorro. Ardales Lakes Turquoise coloured lakes surrounded by woodland are the most unexpected sites in Andalucia. The “Lake Districts” of Andalucia are only 6 km from El Chorro and are a favourite weekend escape from the city of Malaga.
